BELLATOR MMA LAUNCHES EIGHT-MAN ONE-MILLION-DOLLAR LIGHTWEIGHT WORLD GRAND PRIX
Bellator Paris goes down this Friday, May 17, 2023 from inside the Accor Arena in Paris
Bellator MMA returns to the Accor Arena with Bellator 296 - Mousasi vs. Edwards, pitting Fabian "The Assassin" Edwards against Gegard "The Dreamcatcher" Mousasi.
Bellator MMA has launched an eight-man, one-million-dollar Lightweight World Grand Prix, it was announced today by Scott Coker, Bellator MMA President. The tournament will take place over the course of 2023 and 2024, with the winner being crowned the Bellator Lightweight World Champion.
The eight participants in the Grand Prix are:
- Patricio "Pitbull" Freire (c)
- A.J. McKee
- Brent Primus
- Benson Henderson
- Goiti Yamauchi
- Usman Nurmagomedov
- Tofiq Musayev
- Alexander Shabliy
The Grand Prix will begin with four quarterfinal bouts, which will take place on the following dates:
- June 23, 2023: Patricio "Pitbull" Freire vs. Tofiq Musayev
- July 21, 2023: A.J. McKee vs. Goiti Yamauchi
- August 18, 2023: Brent Primus vs. Usman Nurmagomedov
- September 15, 2023: Benson Henderson vs. Alexander Shabliy
The winners of the quarterfinal bouts will advance to the semifinals, which will take place in October and November of 2023. The winners of the semifinals will then advance to the final, which will take place in early 2024.
The winner of the Grand Prix will be crowned the Bellator Lightweight World Champion and will receive a one-million-dollar prize.
